River juniors under 7s football team, based in Liverpool, are the latest addition to an ever expanding grass roots sponsorship scheme by Store First.

Investing in local communities, Store First sponsored River Juniors Under 7s play in the local Walton and Kirkdale Leagues in Liverpool.

One of the newest teams in the City, River Juniors Was founded in 2015 and have teams ranging from Under 4s Pre School, right through to under 15s

Over the Course of the 2015-2016 season the team had been playing in the local Walton & Kirkdale League and had reached the final of the Walton & Kirkdale committee Cup Final.

The Under 7s took to the field on the 8th of May 2016 in the Walton & Kirkdale Committee Cup Final. The boys ran out for the first time in the new Store First sponsored kits for the new season ahead.

River Juniors played another Local team in the Final, the Croxteth Tigers, in a rematch of the group stage match earlier in the Cup. This was a fiercely contested game which ended in a 6-5 win for River Juniors.

The stage was set for the Final, a team which they had only just beaten in the group stages earlier in the season. The game kicked off in spectacular fashion under the early spring sun, watched by both John-Paul, the Store Manager, and David Marsden, the Regional Manager. Straight from kick off River Juniors passed the ball out to the wing and crossed the ball into the box, the ball fell straight to a defender who miss-kicked the ball and accidently passed it to the striker, who neatly finished into the bottom left of the goal, River Juniors led 1-0 with barely 10 seconds gone in the game.

At the End of the game the Referee blew her whistle. A convincing Win for River Juniors as they ran out 10 – 2 winners. In an extraordinary game in which they dominated and out classed the opponents they previously struggled to play against.
