Store First Invests in New Electric Forklift Fleet Across UK Self Storage Sites
Store First has announced the rollout of a brand-new fleet of lithium-ion electric forklift trucks across all 16 of its UK self storage locations, reinforcing the company’s commitment to efficiency, sustainability and customer service.
The investment replaces older lead-acid battery-powered forklifts with modern electric models designed to improve day-to-day operations for both Store First teams and customers using the facilities.
New Electric Forklifts Improve Efficiency Across Store First Sites
The new electric forklift fleet has been introduced to support the growing demand from both domestic and business storage customers across the UK. Store First offers a wide range of storage units, from compact 25 sq ft spaces to larger garage-sized units, with efficient loading and unloading services playing a key role in customer experience.
Dave Bronski, Account Manager at Stevenson’s Ford Trucks, explained the benefits of the new lithium-ion forklifts:
“The trucks we’ve supplied are lithium-ion – they’re just a lot easier to use. There’s no maintenance from the operator side, and they’re fully sealed, meaning there’s no topping up of the battery cells. All in all, it makes it a safer, easier truck to use, and they allow for opportunity charging.”
Unlike traditional lead-acid forklifts, lithium-ion trucks offer longer battery life, faster charging and reduced downtime, helping Store First teams work more efficiently throughout the day.
Store First Enhances Customer Experience with Modern Equipment
Store First Manager Michael Crossley said the new forklifts have already made a noticeable difference across the company’s operations.
“We work with domestic as well as business customers, so efficiency is key. With the lithium battery, it lasts three to four times as long as we were using before, and we’re able to unload multiple pallets with ease. Compared to the previous trucks, it’s just blown them out of the water. This all goes to improve our service to our customers!”
The rollout of 16 electric forklifts across all Store First sites will help improve loading times, reduce operational delays and support businesses that rely on regular access to secure self storage facilities.
Supporting Sustainable Self Storage Operations
The investment also forms part of Store First’s wider sustainability strategy. Lithium-ion forklift technology is more energy efficient than older battery systems and removes the need for ongoing battery maintenance, helping reduce waste and improve workplace safety.
By upgrading its equipment fleet, Store First continues to invest in modern infrastructure that supports both operational performance and environmentally responsible business practices.
Continued Investment Across the Store First Network
As one of the UK’s leading self storage providers, Store First continues to invest in its facilities, technology and customer services as the business expands nationwide.
Managing Director Toby Whittaker commented:
“We continually invest to help our colleagues give the most efficient service to our customers. These new forklifts will be a really useful addition to our fleet!”
The introduction of the new electric forklift fleet further strengthens Store First’s reputation for providing modern, secure and customer-focused self storage solutions across the UK. View our storage locations here.
