Rising house prices are forcing millions of UK families to rent – and an East Lancashire storage company says business is booming as a result.

Reports this week claim millions of British families now see renting as the norm due to their inability to afford hefty deposits and mortgage payments required to buy their own properties.

Store First, which has storage centres for individuals and business customers in Blackburn, Burnley and numerous other locations throughout the UK, has seen a significant number of Lancashire families hiring its storepods to stash away the items they can’t find space for in their rented properties.

The study, by Cambridge University, says that the number of families with children renting private accommodation has risen to 86% in the past five years.
