What’s your full name and job title?

Scott Whyman – Derby store manager.

Before working here, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve had?

Area manager for Domino’s Pizza, I’ve come to hate students.

What 3 words do you think best describe Store First?

Unique, value & happy.

What 3 words do you think best describe you?

Witty, sarcastic & personable.

What’s the weirdest/most challenging thing you’ve ever had to do here?

We regularly host both the signing in and team briefing of 100+ stewards for Derby County Football Club on matchdays. Having that many people in the building whilst keeping the store running is always challenging.

What’s your favourite film/film quote?

"A revolution without dancing is a revolution not worth having" – V for Vendetta

What’s your proudest moment at Store First?

Opening day of the Derby site, seeing the building site becoming a fantastic facility.

What is an interesting, random fact about yourself?

I have degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Bangor University.

Do you have a work nickname? What is it?

Not one that can be repeated in public.

What’s your most embarrassing moment at work?

Catching the in-seam of my trousers on a piece of wood when doing a free pickup. Split them down to the knee.

What’s your favourite place to travel to?

New Zealand.

How do you define success?

Achieving goals that you have set yourself.

If a film was made of your life, who would you want to play you and why?

Samuel L Jackson – he’s my doppelganger.

If you could be any person in history for a day, who would it be and why?

Neil Armstrong – I would love to walk on the moon.

If you could interview any person in history, who would it be and why?

Neil Armstrong – space has always fascinated me and to speak to the man first on the moon would be amazing.

If you could only drink one drink for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

Cherry Coke, the nectar of the Gods!

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

Bacon & egg bap.

If you could be an animal for a day, what animal would you be and why?

A polar bear, always being warm in the cold.

If you were stuck on an island and could only take 3 things with you, what would they be and why?

A machete – to cut wood and defend myself, a lighter to start fires and Bear Grylls to look after me.

Tell us something about yourself that people would be surprised to know.

I have competed all over the UK and Europe racing 1/10th Off Road Radio Controlled Cars

Tell us a little about you and your family.

Single, no kids but looking.

Who is your idol and why?

I don’t really have an idol as such, there are people like Lewis Hamilton and Bradley Wiggens who I admire for their determination to win, or people like Yuri Gagarin or Margaret Thatcher to broke through barriers.

What is your guilty pleasure?

Trashy space/sci-fi books.

What’s your favourite TV show?

Tanked – would love a massive fish tank!!!

What’s the oldest thing in your fridge?

A bottle of wine - about 4 years old.

Do you have any talents or hobbies?

I race 1/10th Off Road Radio Controlled Model Cars.

Do you have any weird phobias?

No.

If you could choose only one superpower, what superpower would you choose?

Flying like Superman.
