Inside Store First - Mementos of Home

Artists may not seem like your typical storage customer, but from our experience, there's no such thing! Jo Gough is a Cheshire-based artist who came to us with a storage dilemma we were more than happy to solve. Read on to find out more.

What does your business do?

I’m an artist from Cheshire whose love of iconic landmarks, flowers and bright colours combine wonderfully into nostalgic paintings of special places.

My artwork is predominantly used to create a gift range which consists of greetings cards, coasters, magnets, cushions, tote bags, fine art prints and canvas prints.

What is your business called?

Mementos of Home.

How did you hear about our storage at Ellesmere Port?

I was getting desperate for storage space so I googled local storage units and Chris from Store First kindly contacted me and saved the day!

Why did you decide to operate from a storage unit?

My products are sold in many outlets including Waterstones, The National Museums and Galleries in Liverpool, the Chester Visitor Centre and numerous independent gift shops in the North West. I needed a safe and clean space where I could manage my stock and package my orders.

How long have you been at Store First?

I moved into a double garage sized unit in May 2017.

What exactly do you use it for, just to store equipment or do your business activities take place there?

To store my stock and manage orders.

What benefits do you get from operating from Store First?

A superb space for storage with the added bonus of great staff who are always on hand to support you. I also love the fact they sign for orders and ensure your collections are despatched to the courier.

Do you make use of the free facilities at Store First?

Only the tea bags and milk!!!

How has Store First helped you to run your business successfully?

Without Store First I wouldn’t have been able to grow my business and expand my ranges and stock. It would be impossible for me to store my products at home.

What would you say the best thing Store First has done for your business is?

It has enabled me to physically store my products, ensure I maintain stock to meet demand and that I can package orders quickly and efficiently for despatch from the unit.

Would you recommend Store First to other SMEs?

Most definitely. One of the best decisions I made!
