In the first of a new series, Meet the Team, we fired some serious (and some stupid!) questions at Neil, who manages our Wakefield self storage centre. Read on to find out more about him and his role at Store First.
What's your full name and job title?
Neil Hawksworth, Wakefield Store First Manager.
Before working here, what was the most interesting job you had?
Concessions Regional Manager of 320 Concessions nationwide.
What 3 words best describe Store First?
Transparent, forward-thinking, unbelievable!
What 3 words best describe you?
Thorough, fair, persistent.
What's your favourite film and film quote?
Scarface - "Say hello to my little friend".
What's your proudest moment at Store First?
Hitting target and getting a bonus in our first year of opening.
What's an interesting, random fact about yourself?
I passed my driving test on Friday the 13th!
Do you have a work nickname? What is it?
Norbert.
What's your most embarrassing moment at work?
That would be telling!
What's your favourite place to travel to?
San Francisco.
How do you define success?
Being the best at what you do.
Who would you choose to play you in the film of your life?
Edward Norton - brilliant actor.
If you could be any person in history for a day, who would it be and why?
Neil Armstrong - just to see if he was the first man on the moon and if so, it would have been amazing.
If you could interview any person in history, who would it be and why?
Henry the Eighth. Just to get inside his mind.
If you could only drink one drink for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
Bulmers Blood Orange cider - cool and refreshing, tastes so nice.
If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
Fish and chips at the seaside. So much better at the seaside than anywhere else!
If you could be an animal for a day, what would you be and why?
Lion. Just the pure king of the jungle!
If you were stuck on an island and could only take 3 things with you, what would they be and why?
- A storage unit for all my food.
- A lighter to save having to make my own fire
- A crate of Jack Daniels to get me through my time on the island
Tell us something about yourself that people would be surprised to know.
I was born on the day England won the football World Cup.
Tell us a little about you and your family.
I've been married for 23 years with two daughters and I will be a granddad in September.
Who is your idol and why?
My dad. Perfect role model, hard working.
What's your guilty pleasure?
Holland's steak and kidney puddings.
What's your favourite TV show?
Only Fools and Horses.
What's the oldest thing in your fridge?
The light bulb.
Do you have any talents or hobbies?
I love doing wooden floors and I am brilliant at them. General DIY, as well.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Strength.
