Store First Ellesmere Port is slam dunking into 2018 after backing popular basketball club Cheshire Phoenix.

The self-storage centre, located close to Cheshire Oaks, supports the team, known as the Nix, through corporate sponsorship.

About the Nix

The Cheshire Phoenix is a professional basketball team based in Ellesmere Port. Founded in 1984, they are members of the British Basketball League (BBL). The Nix play their home games out of the newly built Cheshire Oaks Arena, at Ellesmere Port Sports Village.

Cheshire Phoenix have been dubbed the “comeback kings”, thanks to their ability to bounce back when faced with defeat. In fact, they recently overpowered the London Lions in an epic semi-final 2nd leg. This saw them reach the finals of the British Basketball League. The showdown, against Worcestor Wolves, will be played later this month at Arena Birmingham on Sunday 28 January 2018.

To complete a fantastic end to 2017, the Nix beat their derby rivals Manchester Giants in a thrilling 85-93 scoreline.

Chris Hawker, store manager for Store First Ellesmere Port, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of something special. The people of Ellesmere Port are keen supporters of this great club. We all hope the Nix brings the BBL trophy home, where it belongs!”
