This week, in our Meet the Team series, we sat down to speak to Store First’s Glasgow Store Manager, Michael English, to find out a little bit more about who he is and what he does, at Store First and beyond.
As always, we asked some serious questions, and some pretty daft ones, too…
What’s your full name and job title?
“Michael English, Store Manager at Store First’s self-storage centre in Glasgow.”
Before working here, what was the most interesting job you had?
“I used to be a financial planner.”
What 3 words best describe Store First?
“Transparent, stress-free and simple.”
What’s your favourite film and film quote?
“The best films ever, the Dirty Harry films, and the best line ever, ‘Go ahead, make my day!’ there’s no other options, in my opinion.”
What’s your favourite place to travel to?
“It has to be Scotland, I love it.”
How do you define success?
“You’re successful if you achieve your goals, no matter how large or small they may be, if you attain them, you’re successful in my opinion.”
If a film was made of your life, who would you want to play you and why?
“I’d have to go for Sean Penn, purely because he is a superb actor!”
If you could interview any person in history, who would it be and why?
“I hope Sir Alex Ferguson qualifies as a legitimate answer to this question.
“He is the type of person whose company I would enjoy, and I would like to ask him lots of questions about his truly outstanding career in football management. I’d want to know how he kept motivated for so long, how he kept churning out top quality teams, how he motivated his players, identified new stars, what his best and worst periods in management were, everything really.”
If you could only drink one drink for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
“Got to be a cuppa tea! I just couldn’t go a day without a brew.”
If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
“Pasta, it’s easy to make and there’s lots of variety.”
What’s your guilty pleasure?
What’s your favourite TV show?
“Game of Thrones.”
Do you play any instruments or have any talents or hobbies?
“I love to play golf. I don’t know if I would go as far as to call it a talent, but it’s certainly a hobby!”
If you could be an animal for a day, what animal would you be and why?
“One of the queen’s corgis, it would mean you get treated like royalty, and give you an amazing insight into the royal family.”
Tell us something about yourself that people would be surprised to know
“I’m actually six foot four inches tall, when I’m standing straight.”
What’s the oldest thing in your fridge?
