Meet the Team: Oliver Kitson, Operations Director

As part of our regular Meet the Team feature, we thought it was time to catch up with the boss - Oliver Kitson, Operations Director here at Store First. We grilled him for answers to our usual questions and surprisingly, he answered most of them! Read on to find out more about Oliver and his role overseeing Store First.

What’s your full name and job title?

Oliver Kitson – Operations Director

Before working here, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve had?

Whilst at university I did data entry for The Sun fantasy football league. We had to enter team names and team sheets into the systems. We also had to filter out all the inappropriate/rude team names. Some ‘may’ have fallen through the cracks….

What 3 words do you think best describe Store First?

Straightforward, friendly, adaptable.

What 3 words do you think best describe you?

Nope. Not for me to say.

What’s the weirdest/most challenging thing you’ve ever had to do here?

There are many contenders…

What’s your favourite quote?

My favourite quote is an Oscar Wilde one: “Consistency is the last refuge of the unimaginative”.

What’s your proudest moment at Store First?

Aside from working with the teams to develop the business, personally, it would be becoming Director.

What is an interesting, random fact about yourself?

I have had double vision my entire life.

Do you have a work nickname? What is it?

If I have one, I don’t know it. Probably for good reason.

What’s your most embarrassing moment at work?

Luckily none so far…

What’s your favourite place to travel to?

Central America, I loved travelling through Mexico, Guatemala and Belize (and all of my stores obviously).

How do you define success?

Simple. Setting yourself a goal, no matter what that might be, and achieving it.

If a film was made of your life, who would you want to play you and why?

Queen Latifah. Simply because it would be hilarious to watch.

If you could only drink one drink for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

Rum and Coke. Because: Rum.

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

Steak and chips. Because: Steak.

If you could be an animal for a day, what animal would you be and why?

A dog, because dogs are awesome.

If you were stuck on an island and could only take 3 things with you, what would they be and why?

A helicopter, GPS unit and a ‘how to’ guide on flying said helicopter.

Who is your idol and why?

Don’t have an aspirational one as such, but I’ve always been a fan of Bill Hicks.

What is your guilty pleasure?

Computer games.

What’s your favourite TV show?

Many cartoons (sad I know); Archer, American Dad, Family Guy etc (this is beginning to feel like an intervention).

What’s the oldest thing in your fridge?

Nothing lasts that long.

Do you play any instruments or have any talents or hobbies?

I used to play piano, I play guitar and bass and used to play and sing in a cover band. We were terrible, hence ‘used to’.

Do you have any weird phobias?

Balloons. They need to die, seriously.

If you could choose only one superpower, what superpower would you choose?

The ability to freeze time. There is never enough time.
